Mr. Kelly has vast experience in matters involving anoxic brain injury, pediatric head injury, brain stem compression, cerebral palsy and closed head injury. He has tried, arbitrated, mediated and settled over 100 matters involving either TBI or SCI. Examples of cases he has successfully resolved include claims for children who have sustained quadriplegia due to medical errors; automobile passengers who have been rendered paraplegic as a result of improperly designed seat belts; students who have suffered spinal cord damage and paralysis from school sports and unsupervised horseplay.

Mr. Kelly had also worked extensively in the area of medically caused brain damage and spinal cord injury. He has successfully represented the parents of children have been born with cerebral palsy, cortical blindness, and paraplegia as a result of obstetrical negligence. In the SCI area, he has litigated on behalf of patients rendered quadriplegic due to improperly performed neurosurgery and paraplegic as a result of untimely delay in the diagnosis of spinal lesions.

Mr. Kelly is a two time “Trial Lawyer of the Year” nominee by the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers (for whom he sits as a member of their Board of Governors).

A summa cum laude graduate of St. Mary’s College of California, Mr. Kelly obtained his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. In 2001 he was selected by the California Judicial Council to sit on a task force empanelled to rewrite California’s civil jury instructions in “plain English.” Since 2000, he has annually been selected for inclusion among “The Best Lawyers in America.” He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and serves as a National Board representative for that organization. In 2005 he was cited by his peers as one of Northern California’s top 100 “Super Lawyers.”

He has successfully prosecuted cases throughout California in both State and Federal Court. He has also litigated matters, pro hack vice in Oregon, Hawaii, Colorado and the Territory of Guam. Mr. Kelly has personally tried, arbitrated or mediated more than 75 cases in which the recovery on behalf of his client exceeded $1,000,000.

He holds an “AV” rating (highest rating) from Martindale-Hubbell and has been favorably profiled in legal periodicals, including the Los Angeles Daily Journal.
