Doris Cheng

Ms. Cheng has been a partner in our firm since 2006, and joined Walkup, Melodia in 1998 following a distinguished academic career at the University of San Francisco School of Law. Over the last eight years she has developed broad experience in cases involving brain injury, traumatic brain damage, spinal cord injury, paraplegia and quadriplegia. She has concluded multiple cases by settlement and verdict where the award, growing out of brain injury or brain damage, has exceeded $1,000,000. Most recently, she was co-counsel in a matter that resulted in a $3,000,000 verdict in San Francisco Superior Court for wrongful death arising from the failure to diagnose intra-cranial brain injury. She also has experience in trial, mediation and arbitration of claims involving neurologic injury, paraplegia and quadriplegia.

She is active in local Bar affairs and has been elected to membership on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers as well as the Board of Governors of the University of San Francisco School of Law. She serves on the teaching faculty and executive committee for the University of San Francisco School of Law’s Intensive Advocacy’s Western Region Teacher Training Program. She has taught trial advocacy for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy at its National, Western Regional, Pacific Regional and Southwest Regional Trial Skills Programs. She also serves on the faculty of Emory University’s Kessler-Eidson Trial Techniques Program in Atlanta, Georgia.
